The Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, met with the Speaker of the Senate of this country, Pedro Rollan, as part of her official visit to the Kingdom of Spain.

Axar.az reports that welcoming the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, the Senate Speaker, Pedro Rollan, said that they are interested in further expanding relations between the two countries. He said that the Senate attaches great importance to expanding relations between parliaments and is also ready to support cooperation between governments.

The Senate Speaker, appreciating Azerbaijan's economic development indicators, emphasized that Spanish companies support the activities of our country, especially in the transport sector. He said that they also highly appreciate the cooperation between the countries in the energy sector.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, in turn, noted the successful development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Spain in several areas, including the existence of positive cooperation experience in the economic sphere. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova drew attention to the fact that there are broad opportunities for the development of cooperation in several other areas.

Sahiba Gafarova noted that positive dynamics have been observed in the development of political relations in recent times, and noted the visit of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain Pedro Sanchez to Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29, his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, and the agreements reached during this meeting on the development of relations.

Senate Chairman Pedro Rollan also recalled that, in addition to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, members of the Senate also visited Azerbaijan to participate in COP29, and said that the senators observed the magnificent organization of this important international event, as well as the dynamism of Azerbaijani society.

During the conversation, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the importance of developing cooperation between parliaments. In this context, the importance of mutual visits of parliamentary delegations was highlighted. At the meeting, views were also exchanged on establishing cooperation between parliamentary committees.

During the conversation, issues of cooperation in the humanitarian field between the countries were also considered. It was noted that relations in the fields of education and culture bring our peoples closer together. Pedro Rollan expressed gratitude for the interest and attention shown to the Spanish language in Azerbaijan. It was also emphasized at the meeting that respect for multicultural values ​​is one of the features that unite Azerbaijan and Spain.

It should be noted that before the meeting, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova signed a commemorative book. The Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation also got acquainted with the plenary session hall of the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain.
