Members of the Azerbaijani kung fu national team, who achieved high results at the World Championships held in Perugia, Italy, have returned to their homeland.
Axar.az reports that they were welcomed by media representatives, fans, and relatives of the athletes at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Our athletes, who competed in the "light sanda" category, finished the competition with a total of 7 medals, including 5 gold and 2 silver.
In the girls' competition, Amina Aliyeva (11 years old, 38 kilograms), daughter of the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva, and granddaughter of President Ilham Aliyev, became the world champion.
Among the boys, Rasul Asgarov (11–12 years old, 36 kilograms), Huseyn Aliyev (13–15 years old, 48 kilograms), Togrul Mikayilov (seniors, 65 kilograms), Eller Orujov (seniors, 75 kilograms) won gold, Ali Bakhishov (11–12 years old, 33 kilograms) and Akbar Ahmadzadeh (13–15 years old, 70 kilograms) won silver.
With this result, the Azerbaijani team took 3rd place in the team event.
