“Dede Gorgud” National Fund and “World of Azerbaijan” international magazine awarded the Order of Hazi Haslanov to national hero of Azerbaijan Albert Agarunov posthumously.

The order was presented to the national hero’s brother Rantik Agarunov during the event held in the Alley of Martyrs in Baku May 6 to commemorate national hero Albert Agarunov.

The event was attended by representatives of the Religious Community of Mountain Jews in Baku, several NGOs and the national hero’s relatives.

Talking about Agarunov’s life and battles he participated, Milikh Yevdayev, Chairman of the Religious Community of Mountain Jews in Baku said the national hero always wanted to see an independent Azerbaijan.
He added that today Azerbaijan’s success and peaceful life in the country irritate many states.

“We should preserve this peace forever. The Jewish people have lived in these lands for centuries and will continue to live in friendship with the Azerbaijani people in the future. In Azerbaijan there have never been and won’t be conflicts on ethnic or religious grounds,” he stressed.
