On June 18, the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Maldives on the mutual exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, service, and official passports” enters into force.
Axar.az reports that the agreement was signed on November 15, 2024, in Baku during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Maldives’ Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid as part of COP29.
The relevant draft law was discussed and adopted at the session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan held on December 27, 2024, and was later approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The agreement aims to further strengthen and develop friendly relations between Azerbaijan and the Maldives by facilitating the movement of citizens holding diplomatic, service, and official passports.
According to the agreement, citizens of both countries holding valid diplomatic and service (official) passports may enter, transit through, exit from, and stay in each other’s territory without a visa for up to 90 days from the date of entry.
