The official opening ceremony of the "Paris-2024" Summer Olympic Games has begun.

Axar.az reports that the event organized on the Seine River started with the departure of 85 ships carrying thousands of athletes from the Austerlitz bridge.

The Azerbaijani team took the 16th place in the parade of countries. The flagbearers of our country are judoka Gultaj Mammadaliyeva and boxer Mahammad Abdullayev.

The Azerbaijani national team is represented by 48 athletes in the French capital. The team will perform in 17 programs in 15 sports.

It should be noted that nearly 11,000 athletes from 206 countries will compete for a total of 329 sets of medals in 32 sports at the Paris Olympics, which will last until August 11.
