Russian singer filmed music video in Ukraine's ruins -

In Ukraine, Russian singer Valeriya performed the song "Where Does the Homeland Begin" against the backdrop of city ruins and filmed a music video.

Axar.az reports the singer is suspected of violating sanctions due to this action.

The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has contacted the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) to investigate whether the artist crossed the Ukrainian border for the shooting.

The initiative was launched by Ukraine’s Minister of Culture, Mykola Tochitsky. He demands an investigation if it turns out that Valeriya violated Ukraine’s sanctions.

"This is the essence of Russian culture: against the background of a destroyed city, possibly as a result of war crimes, praising your homeland – this is Russian culture," Tochitsky stated in his appeal.

He also noted that sanctions against Russian cultural figures were imposed for the sake of Ukraine's security interests.

Ukrainian officials say that the singer could have filmed the video either in the newly annexed regions of the Russian Federation or in the Kursk region, against the backdrop of ruins.

The Ukrainian publication "Strana.ua" suggests that the video might have been filmed against the backdrop of the Brest Fortress, located in Moscow's Troitskiy administrative district.
