Barcelona sign Rodri from Manchester City

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Manchester City for the transfer of Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernandez.

Axar.az reports, citing the Catalan club, that Rodri, 30, has signed a contract with Barcelona until June 30, 2030.

He plays as a defensive midfielder and is regarded as one of the leading players in his position.

The Madrid-born midfielder began his career at Atletico Madrid before developing at Villarreal, where he made his La Liga debut. Atletico brought him back in 2018, before Manchester City signed him in 2019.

Rodri played a key role in Manchester City’s success under Pep Guardiola, helping the club win multiple Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League in 2023, scoring the winning goal in the final.

He has also been a key player for Spain, winning Euro 2024 and the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

The deal with Manchester City includes a fixed transfer fee of approximately $70 million, while performance-based add-ons could take the total cost to nearly $88 million.
