On August 11, Russian forces broke through Ukrainian defenses in the Donetsk region and advanced at least six miles. This was one of the deepest attacks in recent months, raising concerns about potential advances toward the strategically important cities of Konstantinovka and Pokrovsk. However, the Ukrainian army thwarted the Russian plans.

Axar.az reports that the Azov Corps launched counterattacks starting August 12.

“A few days after the attack, Russian soldiers were encircled by the Azov Corps, one of Ukraine’s elite units. By August 14, the situation stabilized, and the captured villages were liberated. Moscow’s intention was to regain control of the Dobropillya-Kramatorsk highway, a key supply route for Ukrainian forces in the east. However, thanks to Azov’s swift response, this strategic road remained under Kyiv’s control,” the report said.

Former British Marine Shawn Pinner, who fought within the Azov unit, told the publication that the Russians’ tactics amounted to a suicide mission.
