India has denied accusations that it is blocking Azerbaijan's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) during a recent summit in China.

Axar.az reports that New Delhi claimed that a decision on membership could not be taken due to time constraints.

Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that Armenia and Azerbaijan have applied to join the SCO.

"Due to time constraints, the member states could not decide on this issue. The issue is still under consideration," he said.
