Lake Urmia in Iran has completely dried up

Lake Urmia, located in Iran's West Azerbaijan province, has completely dried up.

Axar.az reports, citing TRT, that satellite images of the drying up of Lake Urmia, one of the world's largest salt lakes, have been published in Iranian media.

It should be noted that Iranian officials had previously stated that the lake would dry up by the end of summer if the measures taken did not yield results.

It should also be noted that although the Tehran administration launched a major ecological project with a budget of $6 billion to restore the lake, the desired results have not been achieved due to the ongoing drought in the country.
