Ahead of a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Washington on September 25, Boeing is set to finalize negotiations on an order for 250 civilian aircraft for Turkish Airlines.
Axar.az informs that Bloomberg reported this.
According to the report, this large order, in addition to opening a new page in US-Turkish relations, could also contribute to resolving the long-standing F-35 dispute between NATO members. The meeting is also expected to discuss agreements on the purchase of F-16 Viper fighters and other defense equipment from Lockheed Martin.
Turkish officials said that Erdogan plans to reach agreements worth tens of billions of dollars, from the defense industry to energy carriers. In this context, Turkiye will purchase 40 F-35s, 40 F-16 fighters, and a large amount of weapons and ammunition, including aerial bombs and missiles. Experts note that this could also resolve the long-running dispute over Turkiye's removal from the F-35 program after the purchase of S-400 air defense systems from Russia.
