Moscow is ready for dialogue on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, but Kyiv has taken a “passive position,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
Axar.az reports, citing TASS, “President Putin is open to seeking a peaceful settlement. The Kyiv regime, meanwhile, has now completely moved into a passive stance,” Peskov stated, commenting on the prospects for resolving the conflict.
“They apparently want to show both their sponsors in Europe and their overseers that they are capable of continuing the fighting,” the Kremlin representative added.
While commenting on U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that Kyiv could militarily regain all of its territories and return to the 2022 borders, he said the claim that Ukraine can recapture any territory is mistaken.
“The situation is different now. Ukraine’s position is much worse. I repeat once again, it will only continue to deteriorate,” Peskov stated. “The efforts to push Ukraine to continue hostilities and the notion that Ukraine can win back something are, from our point of view, incorrect,” Peskov emphasized.
