Syria is committed to the 1974 agreement between Israel and Syria, which provided for the separation of forces in the Golan Heights.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, speaking from the rostrum of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

He said that he would use diplomatic means to resolve differences with the Jewish state.

"Israeli threats against Syria have not subsided since December 8 last year, when the previous regime was removed from power. Israel, taking advantage of the transition period in Damascus, exposed the region to the risk of new conflicts, but we do not want war and are using dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the current crisis," the Syrian leader noted.
