Starting from October 12, a new automated entry-exit system will be launched in the 29 European countries that are part of the Schengen area.
Axar.az reports that this innovation will mainly cover citizens of countries that are not part of the European Union.
The new system will stop stamping passports, and instead, the data of travelers will be registered digitally.
According to the new procedure, facial images and fingerprints of people over the age of 12 will be entered into the system. In addition to this biometric data, details such as the time and direction of the trip will also be stored in a special database.
The purpose of this technology is to both increase security and carry out border checks faster.
It should be noted that the system is designed for short trips of up to 90 days, and the transition period will last until April 10, 2026.
