Prince Andrew, a member of the British royal family, has announced that he has renounced all of his titles, including the Duke of York.
Axar.az reports that, however, he will retain the title of prince as he is the son of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
According to reports, his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will also no longer use the title of Duchess of York.
“We have decided that the ongoing allegations against me are distracting from the work of the monarchy and the royal family. As always, I place my duty to my family and country above all else. I stand by my decision to step back from public life five years ago. With the consent of the monarch, I must now take a step further. Therefore, I am relinquishing the titles and honors that have been bestowed upon me. As I have said, I strongly deny the allegations made against me,” Prince Andrew said in a statement.
The decision was made at a time when pressure on Prince Andrew had increased. This was prompted by new reports about her relationships with convicted sex offender financier Jeffrey Epstein and a person linked to Chinese intelligence.
