Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, shared on his X account about the visit of the country's First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to the Vatican.

The Assistant to the President drew attention to the fact that First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva's meeting with Pope Leo XIV demonstrated Azerbaijan's commitment to interfaith understanding and intercultural dialogue.
"This visit is a bright example of Azerbaijan's cultural and humanitarian diplomacy. Azerbaijan's support for the restoration of its Catholic Christian heritage and long-term cooperation in this area confirm the country's commitment to the principles of tolerance and mutual respect."
Hikmet Hajiyev emphasized that secular Azerbaijan, where the Muslim population is in the majority, but at the same time Christians, Jews, and representatives of other religions live peacefully side by side, is today a bright example of inclusiveness, tolerance, and multicultural harmony.
