Tehran sets conditions for reopening Strait of Hormuz

A source close to Iran's negotiating team has said that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened unless hostilities in Lebanon cease and the country's territorial integrity is guaranteed.

Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim News Agency, the source stated that if Israel's military operations in Lebanon continue, no negotiations on other issues will proceed.

The source added that, under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, the United States' failure to implement its commitments under Article 1 would also prevent the implementation of Article 5, meaning the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed.

The source said the conditions for reopening the strategic waterway include the release of part of Iran's frozen assets, the implementation of commitments related to ending military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, the complete lifting of the blockade, and the issuance of permits for the sale of Iranian oil, petrochemicals, and related products.

The source emphasized that lifting the maritime blockade on Iran alone would not be enough to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
