Lavrov says EU pushing US toward Ukraine ceasefire plan

EU authorities are attempting to steer the United States away from a comprehensive settlement of the conflict in Ukraine toward a policy of an immediate ceasefire.

Axar.az informs that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made the remarks in a comment to the media.

According to Lavrov, the aim is to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a pause and allow Europe to rebuild its military industry.

“They are trying to push Washington toward their tactic of an immediate ceasefire in order to gain a breathing space for themselves, so that their military industry can recover somewhat. And, of course, for Vladimir Zelensky and his armed forces. So I am not surprised that this line continues,” Lavrov said.

He further stated that what is happening in Ukraine is a war “launched by the West through the Kyiv regime, which he described as increasingly showing Nazi-like traits, while claiming that the West portrays this government as a defender of European values."
