€1.5B aid pledged for civilians in Congo – Macron

Participants in a conference dedicated to promoting a resolution to the conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda have agreed to allocate 1.5 billion euros to support civilians in the DRC.

Axar.az reports that this was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking at the closing ceremony of the conference.

"More than 1.5 billion euros in aid has been collectively raised for the most vulnerable segments of the population," he said.

Macron also noted that the UN's existing humanitarian aid plan for the DRC, worth 2.5 billion dollars, is currently only 16% funded.
