The 31st session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP31) is planned to be held in Turkiye in November 2026.
Axar.az reports that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced this while speaking at the G20 summit session in Johannesburg.
According to Erdogan, the agreement with Australia to co-host COP31 is particularly important “against the backdrop of weakening global consensus platforms.”
The Turkish president also highlighted his country’s renewable energy plans to the summit participants.
He stated that Turkiye’s solar and wind power capacity will quadruple by 2035. Additionally, by the end of 2025, the share of renewable energy in the country’s electricity production will exceed 60%.
