Azerbaijan tops European Youth Taekwondo with 5 medals

The European Youth Taekwondo Championship was held in Egl, Switzerland, on November 19-21.

Axar.az reports that the competition was remembered for the brilliant performance of our national team. Thus, our taekwondo athletes won a total of 5 medals (2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze) in the prestigious competition.

Members of our national team, Ilyas Hatamli (48 kg) and Eljan Aliyev (78 kg) defeated all their rivals and won the title of European champion. Vasif Salimov (68 kg) won silver, and Mehdi Budagli (45 kg) and Novruz Aliyev (51 kg) won bronze medals.

It is gratifying that the Azerbaijani national boys' team came in first place overall and was awarded the cup.

Member of our national team, Ilyas Hatamli (48 kg), who won the title of champion, was named "Best Athlete of the Competition", and international referee Aygul Abdullayeva was named "Best Female Referee".
