Fidan: Russia and Ukraine closer to peace deal

Russia and Ukraine are currently in a more favorable position for a peace agreement than in previous periods.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

According to him, the four-year war has clearly shown the parties both the scale of losses and the limits of their capabilities. For this reason, both countries are now taking a more realistic approach to peace negotiations.

The Turkish Foreign Minister said that Moscow has demonstrated its readiness for a ceasefire and a comprehensive agreement under certain conditions:

"Turkey is mediating in several aspects of this process and is in regular contact with the parties. The agreement to be reached is of particular importance not only for ending the war in Ukraine but also for the long-term security of the European continent. This document creates a historic opportunity to prevent new threats to Europe."
