Zaluzhny predicted to become Ukraine’s president in 2026

Valery Zaluzhny, the former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army and the country's current ambassador to London, will become the president of Ukraine on December 31, 2026.

Axar.az reports that this was noted by David Ignatius, a columnist for the Washington Post newspaper, while writing his predictions for 2026.

"After the resignation of Vladimir Zelensky, Zaluzhny will head a 'national unity' government," he said.

Ignatius' predictions for 2026 and the Ukrainian war include the following scenarios:

- Ukrainian naval drones that will seriously damage Russia's "shadow fleet" and halve Russia's energy exports.

- Expansion of the war after NATO shoots down a Russian drone that crossed EU airspace and poses a threat to civilian aircraft.

- An ongoing and bloody stalemate in the war.
