Maduro and wife appear in the New York court

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who are accused of narcoterrorism and other crimes, have been brought before a court in New York.

It should be noted that on January 3, the United States launched strikes on the Venezuelan capital, Caracas. Special forces captured President Maduro and his wife and took them to the United States.

Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, have denied the charges against them.

"I am innocent. I am an honest person," Maduro said.

He called himself a "prisoner of war."

The defendants requested consular assistance from the Venezuelan embassy. The court agreed to allow Maduro to be visited by consular staff.

Maduro has stated that he has health problems and has requested appropriate medical care during his detention (Savashmedia.az).

The next meeting will be held on March 17.
