Fog reduces visibility; drivers urged to be careful

The foggy weather conditions currently observed in some parts of the country sharply reduce visibility and increase the risk of traffic accidents.

Axar.az reports that the Main State Traffic Police Department (BDYPI) has warned drivers in this regard.

It was stated that in these conditions, careful and responsible behavior of both drivers and pedestrians is of vital importance.

Drivers are advised to:

• Check the operation of fog lights and main lighting systems before starting to drive;

• Choose the speed limit according to the visibility, avoid sudden maneuvers and overtaking;

• Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front;

• Postpone trips in foggy weather unless necessary;

• Use emergency lights and warning signs in case of a stop or accident.

Pedestrians are advised to:

• Cross the road only at designated pedestrian crossings;

• In dark and foggy weather, prefer light or reflective clothing;

• Avoid sudden exits to the roadway;

• Remember that in foggy weather, it is difficult for the driver to see you in time.

The Main State Traffic Police Department once again calls on all road users to be careful:

A moment of carelessness can lead to irreversible consequences. A safe road is a shared responsibility.
