Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Iran is a neighboring country and a major regional power, stressing that developments there are of direct concern to Turkiye.
Axar.az informs he noted that issues in Iran affect a wide region and emphasized that stability in the country is important for everyone.
He underlined that Iran and the international community should resolve their differences through dialogue rather than force, saying dialogue remains the only viable path to a solution. Referring to the 2025 clashes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, Fidan said talk of a “new kinetic intervention” by Washington would not solve the problem.
Fidan added that protests and public opposition in Iran have failed to deliver the necessary messages to the regime, while Tehran’s strained relations with the international system make it difficult to provide economic opportunities for its people. He said Iran may need to adjust its foreign and some security policies to create new opportunities, but stressed he does not believe developments in or around Iran will lead to regime change.
Asked about the possibility of U.S. intervention, Fidan said he would advise Washington against such a move, noting that sanctions are already causing serious harm to Iran’s economy and are linked to the protests. He added that while Iran is ready for negotiations, a proper framework is needed, warning that if Tehran feels cornered, it will prepare for the worst-case scenario.
“If there is genuine intent to resolve the issue, I believe there is an opportunity,” Fidan said.
