Rights group says confirmed Iran protest toll nears 6,000

The identities of 5,848 people killed in protests in Iran have been confirmed, while efforts are ongoing to verify the identities of 17,091 others who were killed.

Axar.az reports that this information was released by the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).

Among the deceased, 209 were government officials, 77 were minors, and 42 bystanders.

At least 41,283 people have been arrested, it said.
