Death toll rises to 25 after landslide in Indonesia

Indonesian police said on Sunday that 25 body bags have been received by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team following a landslide on Saturday in the Cisarua region of West Java province.

Axar.az infroms according to Xinhua, West Java Police spokesman Hendra Rochmawan said in a statement that as of 5:00 pm local time, 11 victims had been positively identified, while the remaining bodies were still undergoing post-mortem and ante-mortem examinations.

According to him, the identified victims consisted of 10 intact bodies and one body part. The identification is being carried out cautiously using forensic and scientific methods to ensure accuracy.

Search and rescue operations were temporarily suspended due to unfavorable field conditions, but are scheduled to resume on Monday, he added.

The landslide that struck the Cisarua region early Saturday was triggered by heavy rainfall following days of intense precipitation, causing extensive damage in the affected area.
