Lightning strike hits crowd of protesters in Brazil -

Dozens of pro-Bolsonaro protesters have been injured after being struck by lightning in Brazil's capital.

Axar.az informs according to the Mirror, the group had gathered near the JK Memorial on Monumental Axis road in Brasilia, where they waited in heavy rain for a march by supporters of ex-president Jair Bolsonaro.

A lightning strike is reported to have hit dozens of people shortly before 1pm. At least 72 people received medical assistance, 30 of whom were taken to hospital, including eight in serious condition, according to the Federal District Fire Department.

Bolsonaro supporters took part in a seven-day march called "Walk for Freedom and Justice", led by opposition congressman Nikolas Ferreira and other right-wing politicians. The walk concluded today, with participants covering around 240km from Paracatu to Brasilia in support of Bolsonaro, who is serving a 27-year sentence for plotting a coup.

The 70-year-old was found guilty in September of leading a conspiracy to remain in power after losing the 2022 election to his left-wing nemesis, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
