Iran, Russia to launch joint naval drill

Iran and Russia will hold a joint naval exercise tomorrow in the Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean, Didban Iran reported.

Axar.az reports that the drill will be hosted by Iran’s First Naval District “Emamat” in Bandar Abbas.

According to Iranian officials, the exercise aims to enhance maritime security, safeguard commercial shipping and oil tankers, and improve coordination in counter-terrorism operations at sea.

Captain First Rank Alexey Sergeyev, commander of the Russian naval task group, expressed readiness for further joint and specialized exercises.
