Contacts between Russia and the United States regarding the situation in Ukraine are continuing in an unofficial and confidential manner.

Axar.az informs that this was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has mentioned this several times. Our contacts on the Ukraine issue continue unofficially and confidentially, and for a long time we saw no particular prospects for restoring dialogue.

The mediators, who were voluntarily engaged by our American colleagues, are currently occupied with other matters. And since they have a single mediation group covering all areas of foreign policy, a certain pause has occurred.

In the meantime, we continue working on the tasks set by the President, providing diplomatic support for the special military operation,” Lavrov said.
