Peskov says Moscow seeks lasting peace, not a ceasefire

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia wants a lasting peace in Ukraine and is ready to do everything necessary to achieve it.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Peskov made the remarks at a briefing.

“The Kremlin has repeatedly stated, both through President [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and at other levels, that we do not want a ceasefire; we want lasting peace and are ready to do everything possible to achieve it,” he said.

He was commenting on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that Ukraine could hold elections if the Russian president agreed to a 60-day ceasefire.
