US VP Vance says ball now in Iran’s court on peace talks

The United States says significant progress has been made in talks with Iran, but Washington now expects Tehran to take further steps, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said in an interview with Fox News.

Axar.az informs that Vance said the next move is now up to Iran.

“I really think the ball is in the Iranian court, because we put a lot on the table. We actually made very clear what our red lines were,” he noted.

He added that Washington expects Iran to make progress on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, warning that the nature of negotiations could change if Tehran does not comply.

According to Vance, in return for a two-week ceasefire agreed last week, the United States expects Iran to fully reopen the strategic waterway, which he said has been effectively closed by Iranian forces.
