Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia responded to Ukraine’s proposal for a full ceasefire with “new strikes and attacks,” stressing that Kyiv would respond accordingly depending on the situation on the ground.
Axar.az informs that in a statement shared on X, Zelensky thanked “every state and leader” who supported Ukraine’s proposal for a complete ceasefire.
"I thank every state and leader who supported Ukraine’s proposal for a full ceasefire. Russia responded to it only with new strikes and attacks.
Ukraine will act in kind. Depending on the situation overnight and tomorrow, we will also determine our fully justified responses," he said.
Zelensky also stated that Russia knows how to contact Ukraine or its international partners to coordinate the details.
"Russia has received from us a clear proposal on silence of the guns and diplomacy – and knows how to contact Ukraine or our partners in order to coordinate the details," he added.
It should be noted that the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that President Vladimir Putin had ordered a unilateral ceasefire with Ukraine on May 8 and 9 in connection with Victory Day. This step was taken without coordination with Ukraine. At the same time, it was noted that if the holiday events were disrupted by attacks, a missile strike could be launched on central Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier announced on his Telegram page that the Ukrainian side would observe a ceasefire starting from the night of May 5 to 6 (from 00:00).
