Erdogan: Kazakhstan central Asia’s largest economy

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Kazakhstan is the largest economy in Central Asia.

Axar.az reports, citing Kazinform, Erdogan made the remarks during the Turkiye–Kazakhstan Business Forum held in Astana, citing economic data on the country’s recent performance.

“In Turkiye, we closely follow Kazakhstan’s economic progress, achieved under the farsighted leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In 2025, the country’s GDP grew by 6.5%, approaching $15,000 per capita. Today, Kazakhstan has been recognized as the largest economy in Central Asia, with foreign trade turnover reaching $145 billion,” Erdogan said.

He added that economic cooperation between the two countries continues to expand, noting that Kazakhstan is expected to become Turkiye's largest trade and economic partner in the Turkic world in the coming period.

Erdogan also stated that the goal is to increase bilateral trade turnover to $15 billion.
