Trump may ease sanctions on Chinese buyers of Iranian crude

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that he discussed sanctions on Chinese oil refiners importing Iranian crude during talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and could decide soon whether to ease the restrictions.

Axar.az reports, citing the Economic Times, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One after his summit in Beijing that: “We talked about that and I'm going to make a decision over the next few days."

The sanctions target several Chinese refiners, including Hengli Petrochemical, as part of Washington’s broader effort to reduce Iran’s oil revenues. China remains one of the largest buyers of Iranian crude, making the issue another point of tension in U.S.-China relations.
