China, U.S. both contributed to Ukraine peace efforts

China has said it has made significant efforts to promote peace regarding the Ukraine crisis.

Axar.az reports, citing Xinhua, that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made a statement during a press briefing on the China–U.S. summit and the common understandings reached between the two countries.

Commenting on the Ukraine crisis, Yi noted that both China and the United States share the view that the conflict should end as soon as possible, and that both sides have contributed in their own ways to encouraging dialogue and peace talks.

“On the Ukraine crisis, both China and the U.S. want to see an early end to the conflict, and both have done a great deal to promote peace talks in their own ways,” he said.

The Chinese foreign minister stressed that complex issues have no simple solutions and that peace negotiations cannot be expected to succeed overnight.

He added that China and the United States will maintain communication and continue to play a constructive role in facilitating a political settlement of the crisis.
