Syria reinforces ban on Israeli goods

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has signed a decree revising the country’s customs law and reinforcing the ban on Israeli goods entering Syria.

Axar.az reports, citing i24NEWS, that the move maintains anti-Israel economic measures that remained in place from the Assad era.

According to the report, Article 112 of the new customs law prohibits the import of goods that violate boycott regulations or threaten public order. The article also bans Israeli citizens from entering Syria.

The report noted that the decree comes amid stalled normalization talks between Damascus and Israel. Syrian sources cited by media outlets said al-Sharaa aims to strengthen his domestic position while keeping the possibility of a future agreement with Israel open.
