France summons Israeli envoy over flotilla incident

France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has condemned the actions of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir regarding passengers of the Global Sumud flotilla, describing them as “unacceptable,” including according to criticism voiced by members of the Israeli government itself.

Axar.az reports, citing Barrot's Telegram account, he stated that he has ordered the Israeli ambassador to France to be summoned in order to express France’s indignation and request explanations.

He emphasized that the safety of French citizens remains a constant priority, adding that regardless of views on the flotilla—whose approach France has repeatedly disapproved of—French nationals involved must be treated with respect and released as quickly as possible.

He also praised the work of staff at the Foreign Ministry, as well as the French Embassy and Consulate, for their continued efforts to ensure consular protection.
