Rutte confirms Zelensky's invitation to NATO summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been formally invited to attend an upcoming NATO summit in Turkiye, according to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Axar.az reports, citing Politico, that Rutte stated he had personally extended the invitation and expressed confidence in Zelensky’s participation.

"I invited him already, yes, I did — he will be there,” Rutte said.

The summit, which will be held in Ankara on July 7–8, is expected to bring together NATO leaders alongside partner countries to discuss key security challenges and cooperation priorities, according to alliance officials.

However, reports note that Zelensky has not yet formally confirmed his attendance, and preparations for the meeting are still ongoing.

The gathering is expected to include discussions among members of NATO as well as selected partner states, amid ongoing debates over the scope of non-member participation.
