Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that he has ordered the military to intensify strikes against Hezbollah.
Axar.az reports, citing JP, Netanyahu urged the Israel Defense Forces to “hit the gas” in response to ongoing drone attacks on northern Israel.
“We will hit them. That’s right, they are shooting drones at us,” Netanyahu said, referring to the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah. “What this requires of us now is to increase the blows, to increase the force.”
He added that Israeli forces had already killed “more than 600 Hezbollah terrorists in the last few weeks,” and praised residents in northern Israel for their resilience amid continued attacks.
The prime minister’s remarks came hours after reports that IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir told a Security Cabinet meeting that Israel should consider striking Beirut in response to Hezbollah’s drone operations in southern Lebanon.
Military and political officials have recently escalated rhetoric around the conflict, with Israeli leaders signaling a broader expansion of operations following repeated drone attacks targeting Israeli troops and civilian areas.
Netanyahu also said a dedicated military effort was underway to counter what he described as “fiber drones,” stressing that Israel would “resolve it” while continuing its current campaign.
The comments reflect mounting pressure within Israel’s leadership to respond more forcefully to Hezbollah’s activities, as cross-border tensions continue to intensify.
