President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that not only Russia, but also some other countries do not want Ukraine to develop its own air defense system capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.

Axar.az reports that he head of state noted that Ukraine is currently promoting the idea of creating a European anti-ballistic defense system. Sweden has become the first country to agree to the proposal, according to the president.

“Not only Russia does not want Ukrainian ballistic capabilities. Russia — for obvious reasons, and not only Russia — also for obvious reasons. The reasons are business and competition,” he said.

Zelensky also said that by autumn Ukraine hopes to bring several more countries into the project in order to begin practical work on building the anti-ballistic system.
