Some EU countries do not support Brussels’ demand to cut off dialogue with Tbilisi.
Axar.az reports that in an interview with TV channel “Imedi,” Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili stated that “a number of EU countries do not share the policy of refusing dialogue with Tbilisi.”
She added that there are signs of changing approaches toward Georgia within the European Union, noting that some member states are openly opposing what she described as Brussels’ “policy of resentment” toward Tbilisi.
Bochorishvili also said Georgia has not damaged its relations with Brussels, stressing that the country only acted to protect itself.
She also said that the Georgian authorities decided to take a path of protecting sovereignty and not get involved in military operations against Russia, which turned out to be unacceptable for representatives of Western countries.
“We did not ruin anything. We simply protected ourselves. We protected our country. We were the government that, at the cost of some abstract issues, did not sacrifice the country. Georgia could have disappeared altogether if it had joined the military actions. No one knows where we would be today. It is difficult to imagine that today any of us would be able to sit and talk peacefully like this,” Bochorishvili said.
