Turkiye ready for Hormuz mine clearance if needed

Turkiye’s Minister of National Defence Yashar Guler made key remarks during the NATO Defence Ministers’ Meeting held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.

Axar.az informs that Guler stated that the NATO Leaders’ Summit scheduled to be held in Ankara in 2027 will not be just a gathering of leaders, but a critical turning point that will shape the alliance’s future strategic direction.

He noted that NATO meetings addressed the alliance’s defence and deterrence capabilities, support for Ukraine, and regional security issues.

Guler also announced that Turkiye is ready, if necessary, to support mine-clearing operations in the Strait of Hormuz.

The minister added that the understanding reached between Iran and the United States is welcome, and emphasized that Turkiye will continue to play an active role in maintaining regional stability.
