Canada midfielder Ismael Kone has suffered a broken leg during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Axar.az reports, citing renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, that the incident was shared on his social media accounts.

In the 52nd minute of the match, with Canada leading 3–0, Qatari defender Assim Modibo made a rough challenge on Kone. Following the foul, the injured player had to leave the pitch on a stretcher.

According to reports, the Canadian footballer is currently in hospital and is being prepared for surgery.

Initial estimates suggest that the player could be sidelined for 4–5 months.

After the match, Modibo went to the Canadian dressing room to apologize to the injured player.

It should be noted that Canada went on to defeat Qatar 6–0 in the match.
