Armenian opposition leader jailed pending trial

The Yerevan City Court of First Instance today ordered Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan held in custody for two months.

Axar.az informs, citing Armenian media, yesterday, law enforcement officers searched Tsarukyan’s house and the company headquarters of businesses owned by Tsarukyan’s Multi Group network and the residences of company directors.

Armenia’s Investigative Committee has stated that the searches were part of a money laundering investigation.
