Ukraine's Prime Minister Svyrydenko resigns

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has submitted her resignation to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament).

Axar.az reports that Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, made the remarks on Facebook.

Stefanchuk said parliament will consider Svyrydenko's resignation in accordance with the established procedure.

He also thanked her for serving as head of government "during an exceptionally difficult period for the country".

"I am grateful to Yuliia for her work as head of the government during an exceptionally difficult time for our country, for her contribution to strengthening the economy, supporting the people and advancing Ukraine on its path towards the European Union.

I wish her every success in her future endeavours," he added.
