Trump drops 20% Hormuz cargo fee

U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States will maintain a full blockade on ships traveling to and from Iranian ports, while dropping plans to impose a 20% reimbursement fee on cargo transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Axar.az reports that Trump announced the decision in a post on Truth Social.

Trump said the Strait of Hormuz is "open to ALL Ship traffic except for Iran" and praised the U.S. military for securing the strategic waterway.

"We will therefore have a FULL Blockade, but only on Ships coming to and from Iranian ports, or carrying anything have to do with Iranian cargo," he wrote.

Trump also said that, following "highly productive conversations with Middle East leadership," he had decided to replace the previously announced 20% United States Reimbursement Fee with trade and investment agreements.

"I have decided to replace the 20% United States Reimbursement Fee with Trade and Investment Deals that the various Gulf States will be making into the United States," Trump said, adding that the investments would be "MASSIVE."
