Baltics using 'Russian threat' to bring more NATO forces

Lithuania and the other Baltic states are using claims of a "Russian threat" to bring as much NATO military infrastructure and forces into the region as possible, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Axar.az reports, citing TASS, Peskov made the remarks while commenting on Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda's claims that Russia is planning attacks on Baltic infrastructure.

"This is simply another round of scare tactics aimed at continuing to brainwash the public and prepare it for further militarization," the Kremlin spokesman said.

"To do that, they need to create the image of an enemy—in this case, our country—and use it as a pretext to continue expanding NATO's military infrastructure across the Baltic states in every possible form," Peskov added.
