EU opens market to Armenian fish exports

The procedures for exporting fish and fish products to the European Union have been fully completed, and Armenian producers can now begin practical shipments, Tigran Petrosyan, head of Armenia's Food Safety Inspection Body, said at a press conference.

Axar.az reports according to him, the government has already approved the relevant procedures and inspection checklists, under which inspectors will assess producers for registration in the EU's TRACES electronic system.

"To register in the TRACES system, businesses must submit an application to the Inspection Body, either in paper or electronic form, along with a package of 18 required documents," Petrosyan explained.

It should be noted that Russia has banned imports of a number of products from Armenia as part of its pressure campaign against the country. In response, the European Union has opened its market to Armenian products and has begun providing financial assistance to Armenia.
